Great hockey programs require more than what happens on the ice. Behind the scenes, the volunteer Peabody Youth Hockey Board of Directors works throughout the year to keep our organization running smoothly, support our players and coaches, and plan for the future of youth hockey in Peabody.
Year-Round Commitment
Working Behind the Scenes for Our Players
Peabody Youth Hockey is led by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors committed to providing a positive, organized, affordable, and rewarding hockey experience for our players and families.
The Board meets year-round, typically once per month, to oversee program operations, review organizational priorities, and prepare for both the current and upcoming hockey seasons.
While most families see the results through practices, games, skills sessions, and special events, much of the planning and coordination takes place behind the scenes.
These meetings provide an opportunity for Board members to discuss challenges, coordinate responsibilities, make informed decisions, and ensure the organization continues to operate effectively.
Additional discussions and meetings may be held when necessary to address specific program needs or upcoming deadlines.
Program Oversight
What Does the Board Discuss?
Operating a youth hockey organization involves many responsibilities. Board meetings help ensure important matters are reviewed, coordinated, and addressed throughout the year.
Player & Coach Development
Supporting coaching resources, skills development, goaltending instruction, and age-appropriate hockey opportunities.
Registration & Season Planning
Reviewing enrollment, team formation, evaluations, program offerings, and preparation for upcoming hockey seasons.
Financial Stewardship
Reviewing program budgets, expenses, tuition, fundraising activities, and the responsible use of organization resources.
Player Safety & Compliance
Supporting applicable USA Hockey and Massachusetts Hockey requirements, volunteer responsibilities, and a safe, respectful hockey environment.
Community Engagement & Long-Term Planning
Coordinating special events, sponsorships, communications, volunteer opportunities, and initiatives that strengthen PYH.

Our Board values communication with PYH families and recognizes the importance of constructive questions, ideas, and feedback from our hockey community.
When Does the Board Meet?
The PYH Board generally meets once per month throughout the calendar year.
Exact meeting dates, times, and locations may vary based on Board availability and organizational needs.
Additional meetings may be scheduled when necessary to address important program matters.

For team-specific matters, we encourage families to begin with their coach or team manager whenever appropriate.
