First-Time Families

What to Expect at Your First Session

Your child's first experience at the rink should be exciting, welcoming, and fun. A little preparation can help everyone feel more comfortable.

Before You Arrive

Give Yourself Extra Time

Plan to arrive early enough to get your child dressed, fit their skates and helmet, and find the appropriate check-in or meeting location. Check your program communications for any specific instructions.

On the Ice

Learning Comes First

Children build skills at different rates. Our beginner programs emphasize skating fundamentals, confidence, participation, and learning in a supportive environment. Follow the guidance of the on-ice instructors.

After Your Session

Celebrate the Small Wins

Learning to skate takes time and practice. Encourage your child, recognize their effort, and let them enjoy the experience. Every new skill is a step forward in their hockey journey.

Remember: Your child does not need to know how to play hockey to begin. Our beginner programs are designed to help young players learn, develop confidence, and have fun.
