Peewee / 12U Hockey

Stronger Skills. Smarter Team Play. Greater Responsibility.

Peewee hockey builds on the foundation developed at Squirt / 10U. Players continue refining their individual skills while learning more advanced positioning, team concepts, decision-making, and game awareness.

About the Program

Developing Complete Hockey Players

At Peewee / 12U, players are challenged to combine their skating, puck skills, and decision-making with a greater understanding of team hockey. Practices emphasize skill development alongside positioning, communication, puck support, and situational awareness.

As the pace and complexity of the game increase, players learn to recognize situations, make decisions under pressure, and take greater responsibility for their development and contributions to the team.

Peewee players are encouraged to take greater ownership of their preparation, effort, communication, teamwork, and sportsmanship. These habits help prepare players for future levels of hockey.

Understanding Body Contact at 12U

Peewee / 12U is a non-checking classification under USA Hockey rules. Legal competitive contact can occur during normal play, but deliberate body checking is prohibited. Coaches help players develop safe angling, positioning, balance, puck protection, and contact awareness. These skills are important as players progress toward Bantam / 14U hockey.
