Discovering the Position

Encouraging Young Players to Try Goaltending

At younger age levels, PYH encourages players to explore goaltending while continuing to develop their overall skating and hockey skills.

Trying the position can help children discover a new interest, develop confidence, and appreciate the role of the goaltender. Early specialization is not necessary.

Families interested in having a young player try goaltending should speak with their coach about available opportunities and suitable equipment.
